'Have you not always insisted on being difficult in everything you do?'

CIRCE IS MY LOVE AND THAT IS ALL. WHAT A SAVAGE.

Like she's a true Hufflepuff but also 100% a Slytherin? I don't know how but it is what it is. AND THE ENDING SLAYED ME BECAUSE PERFECT SOBS.

There are definitely some strange things because that's just Greek gods for you, I guess (read: oh fucks, I'm—). Also, even though I'm glad that the rape scene wasn't as graphic it was definitely more so than any sex scenes which umm. I really don't see the point of it because it could have been avoided and Circe still would have did what she did as a result. I'm just mad because now I have to be conscious of it on every reread which sucks.

I really wasn't expecting so many mentions of Achilles and Patroclus (my precious), but since Odysseus is such a big character in the Trojan war as well as this book, I should have known which is why I'd highly recommend reading The Song of Achilles first because spoilers.

LASTLY, GIVE ME A PROMETHEUS BOOK NEXT, MILLER.

Favorite quotes: 'It was my first lesson. Beneath the smooth, familiar face of things is another that waits to tear the world in two.'

'But there was no wound she could give me that I had not already given myself.'

'Humbling women seems to me a chief pastime of poets. As if there can be no story unless we crawl and weep.'

'I thought: I cannot bear this world a moment longer.
Then, child, make another.'

“Circe, he says, it will be all right.
He does not mean that it does not hurt. He does not mean that we are not frightened. Only that: we are here. This is what it means to swim in the tide, to walk the earth and feel it touch your feet. This is what it means to be alive.”
