Bittersweet

I've read her other thrillers and enjoyed them. It took me many, many months to finish this knowing it would probably be the last of hers ever published. A heartbreaking story in the book and in her life.

Good plot but I was kinda left hanging at the end

Based on the reviews and synopis of the book, I had imagined that this was a thriller but it was slightly disappointing. The storyline was great and I was kept reading into the night but I felt that the loose ends in the book need be tied. Perhaps it was the intention of the author to leave readers pondering but to me, the 'loose end' is just too loose.

The plot was great throughout the book - the horrors of what the pharmaceutical industry does, the ethical dilemmas of doctors, the trust of patients have on them, the poor victims, etc - kept me reading. I truly felt for the mother of the boy who died for just trusting her doctor on what's good for her son.

I felt for the 'helplessness' of the doctor too, although I felt that the plot would have been better if the role was developed further (ie he did more than just sit back and get killed). And so, for the wife who is on the run, what could she have done more? Some inkling on what would happen to the others would be good.

4.5.

Really conflicted on what to rate this book. On one hand it was an engrossing story from the first page. The plot was excellent and each of the multiple point of views worked, which is rare because usually head jumping drives me nuts. The plot was furthered in each POV. However, I really didn’t care for the relationship side story and getting toward the end and discovering who the main character was ...was shocking, but I quickly went from shocked to pissed when the main story/problem was NOT resolved. I felt cheated because the characters I came emotionally involved with ended up being sacrificed and the story left open ended with the harm continuing. So this went from a five star top book of the year to being a totally unsatisfying read. Seriously?! You don’t write a story about that heavy of an issue and then just say okay I reached my word count let’s just end it and leave the issue unsolved! I feel like I am being generous in giving it three stars...

.

This is my least favorite JJ book, unfortunately.

While this book is well written, it leaves something to be desired. I don’t know if I was looking for a different outcome, or a bit more action, but this one just fell flat for me :|

The story line is eye opening, in regards to vaccines and their necessity (or non necessity- depending on your view point!) but there’s a lot of loose ends, I feel like.

Read this in one sitting! Suspenseful thriller that keeps you wondering until the end.
I really hope there’s a follow up.

I have enjoyed this book very much! I enjoy the suspense the author brings to the book. This book talks about some very scary issues for doctors and kids. It may hit home for many parents yet not being a parent I still see how scary this book was. I enjoyed the characters and I was sad for the mother in this story. I would read more from this author. This was a great thriller book for me! *This book was given to me for free at my request from NetGalley and I provided this voluntary review.*
