I really enjoyed this book; I was rooting for all the characters and tears were definitely shed. Lucy and Mickey's relationship was the focal point of the book, but for me, the relationship between Lucy and her sisters really stood out. I loved the small town atmosphere, even more so when I read the author was inspired by Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls.

What a beautiful story of love shared between neighbors, sisters, and a husband and wife. Mickey and Lucy face unimaginable decisions. This story teaches so much about mental illness, living life and family.

I picked up this book because it is one of the Whitney finalists, but I was in no way prepared for the ride it was about to take me on. I loved Lucy and I loved Mickey and I especially loved that they weren't perfect. After reading about a third of the book, I'd made a pretty good guess at what would happen with the plot, but I was in no way prepared for the way the characters would impact me. This is a deeply moving book, says so many things about choices and perceptions and it struck me to the core.

I don't know if I'll be able to give this book a review it deserves. I was NOT in the mood to reach such a gut-wrenching novel, and therefore did not feel in the mood to have my heart ripped out of my chest, crushed, then put back in and tried to make it feel whole again. This book was all sorts of sadness tied around love and more sadness. That being said, this author writes well, and she writes beautifully. But if all her novels are going to be like this, I would really like to spare my heart the ache. There were many poignant thoughts and feelings throughout this book. I think if you're in the right mindset to read tragedy and heartache, by all means, give it a shot. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to read something that can give my heart some smiles and crazy, belly-achin' laughs.

Although at time the story dragged, I absolutely loved it. I loved the relationship of the sisters, Lucy and Mickey and their village. The author did an amazing job of shedding the light on bipolar disorder and terminal cancer. I will think about these characters and their journeys for a long time. Despite sadness, the story was incredibly touching and full of love.

I big, pink, puffy heart loved this story. So beautiful. It will make you ugly cry in the best way possible, so make sure to read in private for the last, oh, let's say, 20% of the book. So. Many. Tears. Loved it so much!

I thought the book started off very strong...good writing and good story. By the end I was wondering why why why it was dragging on so slowly and so predictably. To avoid spoilers let’s just say that after a big part of the story line is resolved, getting through the remaining text was just tedious.
