A re read of this classic teen lesbian novel. Annie On My Mind is so angsty and overwrought, the characters are stereotypes and the main character is insufferable. Even so, the New York setting, the playful love affair and the schmultzy tone are also endearing. Definitely for its target audience of closeted teen lesbians needing inspiration and understanding.

I think I just read this book at the wrong time. I didn't really have time to sit down and read, so I read this is snippets between classes a couple times a week, which didn't help my reading experience. The actual content was decent and readable, and I liked Garden's writing, but I need to try this one again another time.

TLDR; I need to try this again when I can actually sit down and read it because what I read was genuinely good. I just have no time. Give this book a try!

This story has made me go through so many different emotions. Made be feel all the injustice going on and has left me reflecting about my own experiences. This book found me when I needed it.
Well, this is mostly about the ending of the story. For the first sixty pages I felt it was based too much on stereotypical teenage drama and was kinda boring and dull. It just assured me I was too old to read books like that. The second part however totally caputured me and I could not put the book down till the end. It was cruel, you feel like a stand-byer who cannot do anything.
Imagine I had read it a few years ago as an actual teenager not knowing about her sexuality yet - I'd be floored.

Occasionally I come across a book so lovely and well-written that when I finish it, I can't pick up another book for a day or two, because I just can't bear the thought of not having that finished book playing through my head. This was one of those books. 11/10
