this is one of my absolute favorite books. any books where the main character talks about books is a good book. any book where the main character finally gets the apology they deserve is a good book. any book where the main character is a part of some sort of support group is a good book. any book where the main character finally gets taken care of and gets to experience their childhood while they're still growing up is a good book. this is a good book.
Moderate: Child abuse and Domestic abuse

I need there to be a way I can give books more than 6 stars. This is the second time I've read this story and I LOVE IT. It's everything I ever wanted in a book. Diversity just being there but also being celebrated, a girl finally connecting with life and herself through books, an apology for parentification, the parentified child finally being allowed to have her own life, finding yourself. It's the coming of age story I always wanted to see on screen but in book form. I want to see more of Angel's story one day.
Graphic: Domestic abuse
Moderate: Toxic relationship
Minor: Child abuse, Racism, and Abandonment
