I’m really enjoying reading all these Agatha Christie mysteries for the first time in many years. I’m concurrently reading a nonfiction book, The Science of Murder by Carla Valentine, about Christie’s knowledge of forensics and its appearance in her books. In that book, so many of her novels are cited as examples that it makes me want to read them all.
Obviously all Christie’s mysteries are clever or her work wouldn’t be almost literally the most popular in the world. I can never figure out the bad guy(s) so I’m always impressed at the convoluted plots and how the solution is laid out. This time, though, there’s an especially unbelievable coincidence in familial relationships that left me shaking my head. But for that I’d have rated this higher.
Nevertheless, still an enjoyable read.

It was going really great I was thinking oh this is going to be a 3.5-4 star book. Then last 50 pages ruined it all for me. I thought that the twist was nonsensical. There were little to no signs that gave away who the murderer was. The whole experience turned from enjoyable to pointless. Since it was fun til one point I didn't give this a lower rating but it's at the bottom in terms of my enjoyment of Agatha Christie's novels.
