This plot felt so uneven. Everyone thinks the MMC is so attractive, yet there's rather intense discussions about his deficiencies, physical and/or his personality. The romance between our MCs felt flat since it was because the author says so, rather than any particular actions of the characters. Then there's scenes where FMC enrages the MMC so much that she's literally sobbing and terrified, because he is screaming at her and throwing her around. Terrorizing your FMC is NOT ROMANTIC. That is a brute of a man, nothing redeemable there. FMC literally assaulting the MMC in a different scene doesn't make it any better, so I guess they deserve each others terrible selves. The only reason I kept reading is because I wanted to know what happened with Matthew and that was so short and anticlimactic that it wasn't interesting at all.
Overall, I didn't enjoy it. It was a bit of a mess, especially when having scenes with Strand and Seward, as their names are similarly structured which made it difficult to even keep track of our MMC from the get go. So many characters I did not care about, andthey don't address what happens to the Home at all. Plot device inconvenient? Just drop it, no one will notice. 🙄
