Solid 4star summer read. I loved the addition of the ghost story, it was a fun touch. TW

Not me literally wanting to uproot my entire life and go run a luxury hotel in Nantucket. (I have no professional hospitality experience. ✨)

My mama is a HUGE Elin Hildebrand fan so when I read The Perfect Couple a few years ago and wasn’t obsessed, she was pretty sad. I promised her I would give Elin one last chance and so I found myself packing her copy of The Hotel Nantucket in my suitcase for our family summer vacation.

Long story short, I couldn’t put the book down and now get the Elin hype... 🙈

Read this if you like:
  • Beach reads 🏖️
  • Mystery subplot
  • Multiple POVs that all come together in the end 🎀
  • Drama and scandals ☕
  • Nantucket
  • Descriptive writing
  • Haunted hotels 👻 (not spooky)

There was so much going on in this book and I was SO entertained. Immediately, Elin introduces an entire cast of characters. We meet main character Elizabeth (Lizbet) Keaton, the island’s sweetheart, and follow her as she is named the new general manager of the local abandoned gilded age hotel bought by an overseas investor. Lizbet is determined to successfully re-launch the Hotel Nantucket and earn a 5 star review from renowned, and anonymous, travel influencer Shelly Carpenter.

I will be the first to admit that I was fully expecting to be bored. Once I got past the initial overwhelming amount of characters, I got sucked in and couldn’t stop reading!! The writing, the different POVs, the descriptions of the island and the food, the characters, the drama, I was eating it all up. The way all the subplots tied together in a perfect bow at the end was so much fun. Someone please explain why I was tearing up at the end of a book about a hotel! 🏨

I had such a fun time with this book and think it was the perfect vacation/ beach read. Sometimes it pays off to give authors a second chance (and to listen to your mom). 🙂

This was a fun read about the opening summer of the Hotel Nantucket. I liked how the character's story lines interwove throughout the book and the descriptions of the hotel. There were a few plot points that I did not understand.

Why did Yolanda kiss Mario at the softball game? Maybe it was explained and I missed it or it just got removed in editing? I just feel confused because it was important enough the break up Lizbet and Mario, but then not important enough for an explanation once Lizbet realized Yolanda was going out with Beatriz? Mario knew she was watching the softball game, and would have seen the kiss, but when she asks him if he's seeing other women he's all, "what gives you that idea?" I must have missed something.

I also felt like Chad's big reveal was not what it had been built up to be.

The more books I read the more I needed to come back and bump this up to a 5. Great story lines for each and every character and an amazing wrap up to it all.
