One of my most treasured series is the Dante Valentine Series by Lilith Saintcrow. I have yet to come across another book(s) until now. Good Intentions is the perfect Paranormal/Fantasy/Romance book that left me eager to get on with the next installment!

I absolutely loved the way the author introduced the world. She did such a great job of providing information about the background of the world in a very non-boring way. Which, is no easy task and not one that many authors are able to successfully dole out. Immediately I fell in love with River, her character is phenomenal! I hope that Brenda K. Davies does not break my heart with her character development because River has a tough journey ahead of her that I cannot wait to read about.

I can’t say much more on this without giving away what I feel all readers heading into this series should discover as they read. Go into this book knowing as little as you can. All paranormal fantasy fans I believe will love this! There is an amazing baseline this story starts off with, there is spice, there is action, there are moments that made my heart hurt, there is definitely shocking moments that my jaw dropped, and of course there is a balance of anticipation with the satisfaction of the reward. I can’t wait to find out what happens next with book two!

This book started strong. I loved River and her life and the post-apocalyptic world.

Then she met Kobal and learned the truth. And it was so interesting even if it was an info dump.

However, the book was like 50% sexual frustration with the main characters going on and on about wanting each other but having to stay away from each other. Oh lord how often we heard about erections and hard nipples. And finally they get together! It was annoying because nothing else is really happening. It’s just training and horniness and rinse and repeat.

And then there’s River. I started out loving her. Tough and resilient and smart. But by the end, she’s an idiot who has started down the “oh I must stay away from my man to protect him because I might become evil.” So stupid.

Disappointing direction but I’m going to read the rest.
