The entire novel seemed way too juvenile for me at age 17. Perhaps someone younger than I would enjoy it.

Nine years after reading this book for the first time I have come back to read it again as I now have the rest of the series and needed to remind myself what happened in the first volume.
I was a bit worried that I would be too old for the book now, since so many years have passed. But I am looking at this series as a bit of light reading to make my commute more entertaining. I need not have been worried because, although I am aware that this book is aimed at people younger than me, I enjoyed it.
It has three very distinct parts to the book which could almost be mini stories on their own: James' life before Cherub, his training and his first mission.
I like the majority of the characters and think that they are well written. I also liked the fact that James questions things; is what he is being asked to do making him a good person or a bad one?
Overall, I enjoyed rereading this story and am looking forward to finally finding out what happens to James and the rest of the characters next.

As fun as it was when I read it as a kid. Read in one sitting and I'm back into this seriesĀ
