Brent and Hayden have nothing in common and constantly butt heads—until a night together changes everything.

I loved the enemies to lovers vibes here (my favorite trope!) and thought Brent and Hayden had a really good dynamic overall. I also loved the glimpses of Daniel and Story that we got throughout this one, as they’re still my favorite couple from this series so far!

I did wish for more of a suspense element here, and generally thought the plot was a bit silly, as their “obstacle” felt pretty resolvable and there was a lot of miscommunication/lying. Still, this one had enough good characterization that it is probably my second favorite of those I’ve read in the series up to this point.

This enemies to lovers went from enemies to lovers super fast, and I’m fine with that. But then it went back to enemies and back to lovers and back to…you get the idea. Hayden and Brent loved to hate each other and hated to admit to themselves they were falling in love. Since people have different ideas about enemies to lovers, I want to say that neither ever does anything terrible to the other. They just rub each other the wrong way and take every opportunity to take potshots.

The chemistry is high with these two, so it’s no wonder they end up in bed. Or against the wall, as it were. They may not admit they each have a soft spot for the other, but it’s there. And soon those potshots start to actually hurt. They realize it and can’t seem to stop themselves from using their old standby to push each other away. But they also have such great banter and one of the best pet names I’ve seen in a while.

The ending gets a bit crazy, but it’s a lot of fun to see Brent scramble and their friends band together to do some ridiculous things to help them along. Plus, Brent’s grovel at the end, when he thinks he’s too late, is epic.
