Love a good mystery. Don't like the in detail descriptions of cars and planes and anything that goes.

The search for the source of a "brown crud" that is killing fish in the Caribbean Sea leads Pitt and Al to a project on a mammoth scale being undertaken by a company in Nicaragua. The plan will change the world if it is successful and they have to do everything they can to prevent it from being implemented. Pitt's children also looking into the "brown crud" and also come up against the same company when they find relics in an underwater cave system that are thousands of years old and thousands of miles out of place. The question is where did the Torjan War actually take place?

This has a sentimentality to it as it's the book where Pitt gives up the front line action, or so he says, and takes over running NUMA as Sandecker is about to run as vice president. Pitt's whole life is turned around as the years are catching up to him and Al. They want a quieter life in a office somewhere.

It's not about read but as usual I sometimes thing these books have too much padding.

This was a fun and entertaining read, a good novel for Cussler fans (and fans of the original Dirk Pitt character). At some points it was somewhat predictable, but still fun to follow along with the adventure.

A little slow to start, this ends up being one of the better Pitt books, more in the style of Cussler's works during his heyday. 3.5 stars.
