SPOILERS
I came from Wylde's mc series and I was slightly disappointed in this novella but if you are intrigued I would recommend giving it a go.

The page count it's quite small so the story cannot go too much in-depth but I was intrigued by the caste system that was established in the story and by the rebellion plot for the future books. What I found lacking was the relationship between the love interests: even though I enjoyed the fact that they knew each other from school I disliked how quickly the H was set to have the h and how he forces himself towards her. The sex scene, even if it was motivated in the text, felt too sudden and DUB CON (borderline NON CON). (not that I don't enjoy those kinds of scenes in other books but I'm used to late 2010s dark romances. This read more similar to an 80's romance, as has another reviewer pointed out, where consent is not required).

If this plot intrigued you I would suggest  The Kinsman Universe by Iona Andrews

Real quick introduction to this world, just enough to leave you wanting more, and believe me, I want more of this world.

The way this is written, kind of reminds me of—late 90s romances. Super nostalgic and consent is more—‘forced consent’ (popular for very old school writers in the 70s, 80s, and 90s), I liked it. Alot.
