While I was disappointed that this was only a retelling through Leila's perspective, and we don't get anything more of what comes next, there was so much that happened that we didn't see that makes this story feel like stepping through to the other side of the mirror where everything is the opposite. I loved this one, as much, maybe more than the first one.
Sexy, thrilling, suspenseful, and full of heart.

Definitely do not read this book before "The Savior's Champion" even though they are companions. Only read if you've read the first one.
The best part of TSC? The excitement of the tournament (that book is still a 3.25 star rating for me). So what do you get in this one? What happens inside the palace while the tournament is going on. In short: you miss all the excitement, don't understand half of what happens, and just get bored most of the way through.
If you have read TSC, well, still don't really need to read it. It just made the series even worse for me. Barely any extra information, no meaningful plottwist, just the same book from a different, boring, rather annoying POV if I'm being honest.

I actually enjoyed this book more than the prequel. I found Leila a fascinating character to follow, and the political schemes were more interesting to me than the tournament. Also, Jenna managed to pull off another twist I didn't see coming, so nicely done!
I will say that at times Leila came across as somewhat selfish/unnecessarily rude, but on the other hand, I can't exactly blame as She is fighting for Her life. The other thing that bothered me is the colors She was seeing weren't always explained, and that bothered me.
That said, those are minor nitpicks and I can't wait for the third book in the series!

Brilliantly plotted and beautifully written. I cannot wait for TSA.
Like in the first book, the romance was one of the less intriguing plot points, but I still enjoyed it.
