"-Stop talking about Jesse! I'm the one you're fencing next! I'm your rival, not Jesse!"
Fence, Vol.3 combines the last four issues of the comics with the same name. In this third volume, tryouts for the fencing team at King's Row come to an end as Nicholas's path to prove himself not only to the father that he never knew but also to his enemy and roommate, Seiji. Stakes are high as Nicholas and Seiji finally face off once again in the halls of King's Row.
In my review of Fence, Vol.1 I said that C. S. Pacat and Johanna the Mad were a match made in heaven. And they continue to prove over and over again just how right their partnership is. It gets better and better, every time. This third volume is the one that establishes the first turning point in this story. The team is chosen, we get a lot more mystery and drama, more character development and it ends on a cliffhanger that promises more drama and entertainment. I just can't wait for Rivals.
Just like the first two volumes, this one also has a few content warnings that I think that readers have to be aware of: (physical) fighting and subtle references to child abandonment.
Overall, I continue to love this series and I absolutely recommend them.
