[3.75 Stars] A quick, fun read! I thought Maya Hughes's writing was engaging, and she created an entertaining story.

However.

SpoilerI thought the intimate scenes between Seph and Reece were unrealistic. I'm not saying it couldn't happen that way--I just have a hard time believing an 18 and 21 year old could achieve what they did that first time....

I also thought the resolution between Seph and Reece was weak when they got back together. He didn't give an explanation or an apology. Instead, he made a grand gesture that glossed over his reasons for leaving her, and she didn't ask.

Overall, I enjoyed The Perfect First, and I want to check out the rest of the series.

Really glad I've gotten the chance to read more by this author. Pretty sure Maya Hughes is going on my list of must-read authors. I was very excited to see this is going to be the first in a series, because part of what I loved about this was the supporting characters, specifically Reece's roommates/teammates. They were so much fun! And the fact that they loved Seph right from the start, and treated her like one of the gang. Of course there was also Marisa, and she will probably feature in one of those guys' stories I'm guessing. This was a story I could barely put down. I would have sat and read it all in one sitting if I'd been able to. I snuck in reading time at work at my desk because it was so good. Now, I have read something somewhat similar lately, storyline of the girl losing her virginity like this, these characters stood out as a different story and I love them so much! The times when Reece kind of freaked out or tried to stand his ground at not getting involved were very realistically done in my opinion. Although, I kind of wish we'd had a bit more details on what had happened with him the year before. It was pretty much given away with what we did get, but I could have seen that being a bigger part of the story as well. I totally hated Seph's dad, and his treatment of her made me tear up. Such a good story, so much laughing and emotion and smiling and steaminess!

I loved so much this book.
That first glance, first touch, first butterfly and emotion in your belly, that first thought that you can't stop thinking about someone, the instant chemistry of lust and love, everything a young human should feel it's here in this great book.
I loved everything about this story, from the first moment when they meet to the experiences that they get through so she can tick off another to do thing from her list to the moment of realising that there can be a happy for now between them and it's so worth to try it.

The Perfect First is the first book in the Fulton U series. This book is told from dual points of view from Reece and Persephone (Seph). Each book in this series focuses on a different set of characters, but all the male characters show up as background characters as they are all on the same football team.

Reece and Seph meet when Reece goes to do an interview for Football and ends up sitting at Seph's table. She put an ad out to lose her virginity. When Reece finds out what she did he befriends her to try to help her find the right guy for her and not someone whom is creepy. Neither one of them is looking for a relationship as she has to leave school to do what her father asks in 7 months and he plans to be drafted.

As their friendship blossoms they start to have feelings for each other. He learns there is more about her family and her past. Will their relationship stand up to time or will she end up going to do what her father asks and him off to the draft?

I enjoyed this book, and everything that we learned about these characters. I can't wait to see what happens with the next couple in the series.
