What. A. Read.

There is so much to say about this book, I don't think I have enough words PR enough space. Melissa Faliveno takes you on a wild ride across gender identity, coming to terms with your sexuality, raging against the patriarchy while acknowledging your own femininity. It is a long read, and heavy at times, but definitely worth it!

Everyone should read this book, especially those who aren’t from the Midwest. I saw myself on every page of this book. The comparison between life and the land, the telling of generational trauma and the acknowledgment of what it’s like to be a woman who isn’t inherently feminine in the Midwest.

Through life stories and tales of the land Faliveno calls home, the reader goes through a journey of self reflection on what it means to be a woman. It’s perfectly detailed, with just enough ambiguity.

I am also from a small town in the US. I am also queer.

I have never related to anything less.
