Everyone should read this book, especially those who aren’t from the Midwest. I saw myself on every page of this book. The comparison between life and the land, the telling of generational trauma and the acknowledgment of what it’s like to be a woman who isn’t inherently feminine in the Midwest.
Through life stories and tales of the land Faliveno calls home, the reader goes through a journey of self reflection on what it means to be a woman. It’s perfectly detailed, with just enough ambiguity.
