it wasn't as bad as i expected it to be but the dialogue was exetremely forced sometimes. must everything be a literary masterpiece to be enjoyable?

I had a good time with this. There were some of my fatal flaws that are typical in romance (man is so big, woman is so tiny & horribly cliche ending) but it didn’t completely ruin the story

Overall a fun book. Definitely a little heavy on the "this would be solved by a 10 minute conversation."

fake dating, cute, scientists, i liked it more than i thought i would, liked to read about the science projects and methods
Olive is a messy cutie pie
Adam is a smitten hates everybody but her, has also been in love with her for 2 years
Olive has been investigating a way to find pancreatic cancer in its early stages, this was emotional for me because of my grandpa who died of pancreatic cancer. didnt think this book was gonna make me emotional, much less about something that was not the romance between the main characters

I absolutely loved that the main characters are scientists, and I liked that there was a bit of the impostor syndrome going on because that's true probably with most women, especially those in STEM. The prologue was super obvious about who The Guy was and the book didn't transition very well from The Guy to The Night (insert eye roll here). I'm glad we were able to find out Adam's outward motive for going along with the fake dating, but I really wish we could've gotten his point of view as well, not just Olive's. I want to know how someone 'pines' over a stranger for 3 freaking years. Or 2. Whatever. I had a hard time following along with Olive because it seems like the author wants to present her as someone who lacks confidence but she takes to Adam right away, as though The Universe willed them to be together. I loved the demi rep; that chapter (you know which I'm talking about *wink wink*) was beautifully done. The bit with the harassment really triggered me, I was surprised, and it's probably because that was the most believable part of the book, sadly. I thought the book was also really funny and loved some of the comments that Olive would make (I'm paraphrasing): "he's probably into something atrocious like cow tipping." I thought the time for the main characters to "fall in love" was too fast. Perhaps that's how love happens post mid-20s.

The cutest and most heartwarming story I've ever read. An instant favourite!
