The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶🌶 (just one chapter)

I can’t believe I’ve been putting this one off for so long. I loved it so freaking much omg. I was laughing almost every time that Olive opened her mouth. She was so funny and such a lovable character. From when Olive met Adam, I could tell he was crushing on her. The fact that this all started as a Star Wars fanfiction makes me laugh. I love that!! The quick witted banter and sexual tension between Olive & Adam was beautiful. Truly love them! The hypothesis at the start of every chapter was so funny and a great way to start each one. Holden and Malcolm are so cute. Anh was kind of annoying me tbh.

I didn’t trust Tom from the beginning.

A fantastic fauxmance! Adam is dark and brooding but also protective and caring. A swoon worthy read for anyone who likes smart people and some spice.

A bit slow, not much happens in the plot apart from the major dramas. The characters are very emotion driven and invest too much into each other very quickly but at the same time don’t seem to care about each other.

I really wanted to like this book, especially given the hype that it received, but it just fell flat for me. I did enjoy that it was very lighthearted and super self aware of tropes.

However, I was immediately thrown that this was a professor student relationship, especially as someone who has been a graduate student in biology, and it was difficult for me to reconcile that throughout the whole book. The descriptions are also repetitive at times while the characters still remained fairly flat (we get it he's tall but what else??).

All in all, it served as a good reset between some of the heavier and non-fiction books I'm reading, but I won't be returning to this book.
