I think “One of the Girls” is one of my favorite Lucy Clarke novels! I read “The Blue/No Escape” a few weeks ago and was so disappointed, but thought that “One of the Girls” might get me in the mood for my Greece trip. It definitely did! I loved reading a Lucy Clarke novel where it’s not about a sister or best friend dynamic consisting of two people, but a group where every POV is included. While that made it a little hard to get into the story at first, I thought it was what made the novel much more diverse and interesting. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a mystery novel/thriller for the summer time.

A dark tale focused on a Hen Weekend and the six women attending. All of which have skeletons in their closets. And it’s crucial to keep them locked up.

Lucy Clarke is wonderful at creating complex characters in complicated situations!

Reading a book by a foreign writer has the added surprise of new phrases. A Hen Weekend! I’ve never heard this phrase for a bachelorette party but it’s so fitting!

Who wouldn’t jump at the chance for a girl’s trip to an exotic Greek island? Lexi and five women are gathered to celebrate her upcoming marriage to Ed. A diverse group with scandalous secrets. Some worth killing to keep hidden. Who doesn’t make it home alive?

Sincere thanks to GP Putnam's Sons for providing this ARC through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

It was okay, not memorable and not overly interesting. It did feel a little far fetched but that didn’t massively bother me.
The characters were distinct eventually, Elenor was probably the stand out for me, seeing her try to fit in.
I wouldn’t recommend it, but I’m not mad I read it.

Former dancer / party girl Lucie is getting married. Despite Lucie's reservations, her best friend Bella (who hasn't let go of the party girl facade) is determined to throw her a hen party. So 6 women head to Greece, seemingly connected by only Lucie. When it's clear someone winds up dead, you start to wonder if other connections are at play.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It started out pretty quickly for me, but really dragged in the latter half. The entire thing is wrapped up quite nicely, so you definitely do not have to worry about the ever frustrating *WHAT?!* that some thrillers will leave you thinking when you shut them.

Also, I just want to say, shoutout to Bella, whom I honestly felt sorry for this entire novel. You're the real MVP.
