Junji Ito did it again! Loved this short collection of intriguing concepts and creepy stories. 'Weeping Woman Way' was probably my favourite of the collection, the imagery was disturbing and the premise I thought was interesting and unique. Although the ultimate concept of 'Slumber' really got under my skin, and might end up running through my mind during sleep hours. Really all of the stories could stand on their own. Maybe not as horrific as something like Uzumaki, but that didn’t take away my enjoyment of the collection.

This was a great outing for Junji Ito.  I've read a lot of his stuff and some of it's scary to me, but it's always unsettling in the best way.  The Liminal Zone in particular gave me chills and the illustrations, while always incredible, were especially creepy.
Slumber
will haunt me forever.  The statue in Madonna would make an amazing tattoo.

The Weeping woman was one of Ito’s weaker works to me, but still a gorgeous showcase of his artistic style.
Madonna was much more interesting to me, very striking iconography alongside the theme of the Madonna/Whore complex in men and its destructive effect on the perception of women.
The Spirit Flow of Aokigahara is a classic Ito story, unnerving body horror and just the right amount of absurdity.  Has the bones to be a longer story if Ito wanted to do so, I think.
Slumber has a great sense of intrigue and a wonderfully twisted idea at its core, this one more than any of the others I would love to see explored in a more long form comic.
