I couldn’t resist a “beach vibe” Miss Marple, especially as I’ve been reading another short story collection inspired by the iconic amateur sleuth. It perhaps wasn’t my favorite of Christie’s novels, but this is only my second Marple so I’m still warming up to the most highly rated.

I’m curious to read the follow up to this since it does directly involve a secondary character in this book, but other than that it was a interesting “he said she said” kind of mystery. I enjoyed it and flew through it, and what more can you ask on a holiday? I’m just grateful I didn’t have a murder to contend with on mine…

Miss Marple is my favorite of Agatha Christie’s detectives. The Marple mysteries are also character studies. If you can, listen to the BBC radio version of this book, starring June Whitfield. Miss Marple starred in fewer books than Poirot, but she was preferred to him by Christie. This mystery is the first of two companion mysteries; the second is Nemesis. I love both.
