I think we found Netflix's next movie! Two long time best friends turned lovers- it's every girls dream scenario. I loved this story. Jack and Lizzy warmed my heart, especially Jack. The love he has for his best friend Lizzy is so adorable- and it goes to show that men can be insecure too when it comes to relationships. This wasn't your typical girl wants relationship but is afraid. Lizzy was a headstrong woman who knew what she wanted and would stand her ground for it (must be the lawyer in her). Rather, this was Jack who was in love in Lizzy for the past 20 years but could never admit it to her in fears of ruining their friendship. The best part? Their love story grew in the place where love stories grow.. a bookstore. Booked on a Feeling was such a feel good, light, heart warming, cute romance book.

DNF @ 20%

I'm a sucker for a book where the character loves books, or there's a bookstore setting... But this just seemed slow to me, and a bit cheesy. I just couldn't get into it.

I haven't read the first two books in the series, but this book reads well as a standalone. I didn't feel like I was missing any history or anything.

A really enjoyable read! Loved Lizzy and Jack together and boy oh boy what I would not give to work in a bookstore!

This book was like a cosy afternoon in the sunshine- it made me happy, gave me smiles and laughs, was emotional and real at times, and sexy and fun at other moments.

The breakup was not really to my taste and the epilogue was unnecessary to me, hence the 4 stars and not 5.

DNF. Unfortunately, this was a book I started multiple times but could just not get into. I appreciate having the opportunity to read this book, it was just not a good fit for me as a reader. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my gifted review copy.

I did not like this book. I DNF'd after 120 pages because it simply wasn't for me.

The premise is cute—lawyer is so caught up in climbing the ladder that she's blind to the fact that her decades-long best friend is in love with her. Cute. I can work with that. What I didn't like was that the characters read like teenagers, not thirty-year-olds who are well into their adult lives and careers. Their emotions felt a little overexplained (how many times in the first 50 pages did I have to read "but she's my best friend" from Jack's perspective whenever he mentioned his feelings for her?)

It definitely reads as rom-commy, but in the way a YA rom-com would read. The emotions felt very surface-level without digging too much into their history together. It felt like it would have made a better movie script than a book with how one-dimensional the writing style felt at times.

The book was definitely an "okay" read. The characters and storyline were very one note and not very memorable. But it was a quick read and something that I didn't have to focus on.

As my Summer of romance books continues, I found this one hidden away on the bookshelf and decided that it was time to pick this one up and dive into this book and enjoyed the journey as well as sweet romance that is at the heart of the book all about childhood friends that decide to take a chance on their feelings for each other.

Lizzy Chung had her entire life planned out. She was going to make her parents proud, be successful, and live happily ever after. At least that was the plan. But plans go awry, and after a panic attack in court, she jumps in her car and heads to Weldon where she spent her childhood summers with her best friend, Jack Park. Jack has had a crush on Lizzy for so long and is happy that he gets to spend three weeks with her. When Lizzy needs his help saving the local bookstore, he agrees, and the sparks fly!

Whilst this was an enjoyable read and has at its heart a sweet journey, I think that I just struggled to connect to the characters. It’s told in the third person which I have always struggled with more to connect to characters. It was predictable to see where the story was going to go, and the 3rd act brake up would have been easily resolved through communication. I also felt that it was a bit too much of a slow burn for me and I really struggled at times to get through it.

If you are looking for an easy Summer read then consider this one!
