Is this book good? Objectively no.
Is the writing good? Absolutely not.
Did I have a good time? An unhinged one, yes.
Will I be continuing the series? Yes for the absurdity factor alone.

I listened to the audiobook. It reads like an early 2000-2010s YA high school vampire series even though its from 2022??? The parallels to Twilight are stark and literally mentioned?! Nothing makes sense. There is no plot. It's insta-lovey in all the worst/best ways. The dialogue is cringe worthy. If you are here for a trashy good time then sure, it's maybe for you.

1.5/5 🌶️

I liked the book well enough and I would recommend it to people who like fantasy and vampire books. The reviews for this book often compare it to Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight. Part of me likes Crave better than Twilight. While cringey moments are bound to happen, the moments in Crave were sweeter and kept me turning the pages while Twilight occasionally had me putting the book down from secondhand embarrassment. That is part of the reason why I like Crave better. I was not a fan of the ending though. There was a lot of buildup to that point, and the ending was not what I was hoping for. Having said that, I can look back and see a bit of foreshadowing throughout the book that hints at the ending. There were also a couple of times where details were incorrect or forgotten and it happens on occasion, but when I noticed the errors it made me pause, go back, and reread which is something we are hoping to avoid as readers.

SpoilerOverall, a good book! It was almost a bit “insta-love” to me, and I didn’t love the abbreviations for slang read aloud (FML, AF, etc.), but aside from that I really enjoyed it.

I was reallllyyy not expecting the ending; not sure how a gargoyle will play out, but I’m excited for something new!

I thought the characters were all really flushed out well, and the storyline made sense. It was well written! It’s a 3 star read for me simply because 1) I probably won’t be reading it again, 2) not sure it’s at the top of my recommendations list, and 3) it just didn’t grab me by the throat so I couldn’t stop reading.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it, just not a 5 star for me 😊

This book was such a blast! I wish I had been able to read this at the age of 14, it would have changed my life 🤣. The dark, brooding, sexy, I hate everybody but you and touch her and you’ll die vampire love interest and the sweet, naive, romantic, traumatized human falling for each other is a trope that I will fall for time and again. Don’t get me wrong. Some parts were so cheesy (like the constant reminder of how smoking hot and sexy Jaxon was to Grace). BUT!!!! I loved it. I love paranormal stories, especially ones with vampires. And I love how each vampire story follows slightly different lore, so you get to rediscover vampire lore each time you get it from a different source.
What’s more is the mysterious ancient Alaskan castle boarding school that Grace ends up attending (Katmere academy) is like the combo Skyrim and Harry Potter and Old French palace of my dreams.
As I suspected, this book left us on quite a cliff hanger, so I will for sure we picking up the next book soon.

This book was what i wanted twilight to be. It was a 3.5/5 for me because it was pretty slow in the world building and telling of what happened but I enjoyed the chapters from Jaxon’s POV at the end. I will definitely read the second book because I enjoyed the story line and am excited to see what happens!

Definitely entertaining but the writing seemed a bit juvenile at points and predictable. I will continue reading the series because it has kept me intrigued and reading despite those points.

I almost dnf’d a few chapters in but I’m glad I stayed along for the ride. It’s like Riverdale and Twilight wrapped up in one. A little silly and ridiculous at times but the action and romance make it worth it in the end. The characters are loveable and the school setting is intriguing and makes the reader want to know more about the world beyond. Only criticisms are the author tried too hard to sound like a teen (a lot of “omigod”s and “FML”s) and get a little too meta for my taste with lines like “it’s like I’m in a fantasy novel” etc. Cringe.
