I totally loved this book. But it should come with a warning: It's impossible not to crave the next installment immediately after finishing this one.

Well written, funny and steamy. Great summer read, or as in my case: perfect for a long international flight. Just wish I'd had all the books in the series, as I would have read them all on that one flight.

Interesting enough, though one does wonder why the three girls are friends.

Oh, I like the sound of this series, I do.

The Summer Flings series by Aimee Duffy kicks off with Ciara, Elle and Gem heading to Tinseltown and already they are filling their days with tans, romance and a little bit of naughty drama.

What is great about Trouble in Tinseltown is that Duffy is laying the groundwork for some serious adventures. Already in the first book there has been two arrests, gate-crashing, celebrity snogs and saucy romance.

Not bad for a 40 page book.

Next the girls are off to Miami and I for one cannot wait to see what hi-jinx awaits them there.

Trouble in Tinseltown (Summer Flings, #1) by Aimee Duffy is available now.

Trouble in Tinseltown is part 1 of Aimee Duffy’s Summer Flings novella series. After graduating from Oxford, three best girlfriends Ciara, Elle and Gem, have decided to take a two month around the world vacation before settling down and facing the realities of the real working world. The first stop on their trip is sunny Los Angeles. They are there to lounge around poolside, go shopping on Rodeo Drive and hopefully brush arms with a few movie stars. When Elle’s cousin Zack shows up at their grandpa’s Hollywood home, Ciara is in for a pleasant surprise. Perhaps Zack will be the perfect guy to have a fun, time-sensitive, summer fling with.

Ciara has some relationship issues though and thinks she’s not a stayer, like the mother that left her and her father when she was young. Her biggest fear is turning into her mother, but it doesn’t stop her from pushing away great guys because she fears that she’ll get bored and end up hurting them. Another one of her problems is that she doesn’t come from a wealthy family and thanks to their respective families, her two best friends have more money than they know what to do with. It’s difficult for Ciara to have best friends that never have to pay their bills because their parents fund their limitless credit cards. She doesn’t ever want to take advantage or take anyone’s charity and her friends understand and respect her wishes.

I have one main complaint about this series. This was the first novella in the series and had chapters 1 to 3. The next novella in the series has chapters 4 to 7. If the author planned on having the ‘novellas’ published as a few chapters at a time, it would’ve made more sense to publish it as one novel, not as a series of ‘novellas’. The story is a fun, light read with interesting characters that leave you wanting more and I enjoyed reading it, but I don’t like that it’s not just one novel, or a collection of novellas where each one starts with a chapter 1. I would recommend the series, but I’m disappointed that it wasn’t just sold as one book.

When I saw Trouble In Tinseltown on Netgalley, it looked like the perfect little read for my lunch hour! I’m not the biggest short story reader, but I find they do in a pinch, and are a quick and easy read when you’re not able to get into something fuller, and Aimee Duffy’s new series seemed the ideal thing for my lunch hours.

Trouble In Tinseltown is the first of seven short stories, following best friends Ciara, Gem and Elle on an around the world adventure of which I am insanely jealous. I dream of flying around the world, visiting hot, fabulous destinations, and the first stop for the girls is LA! Who doesn’t want to visit LA?

The girls are definitely a handful, mind, and I liked that the main focus was Ciara, the more level headed of the three girls and I enjoyed her flirtation with Zack. It’ll be interesting to see where it goes (if it goes anywhere since they’re off to Miami next). I enjoyed Trouble In Tinseltown, it was a cute, short read. It wasn’t perfect, but for my lunch break it was ideal. I can’t wait to go to Miami with the girls (I love Florida!).
