I flew through this book. I love Megan Miranda's mysteries, and this latest does not disappoint. The characters, the atmosphere, the twists and turns, and all with just the right amount of suspense. It's compulsively readable, and I could not put it down.

I put it down once . Then tried one more time- very boring- nothing like the other Miranda books I have read. Reviewers seen to say it gets there but I quit.  Partly due to the narrator’s monotone voice. Why she was chosen for a thriller I cannot imagine. I see she narrates another one of Miranda’s - definitely skipping that listen too.

Cutter’s Pass is a atmospheric resort town with a well visited Inn and direct access to the Appalachian trail. It is also famous for visitor disappearances. It's a twisty tale narrated by Abby who works at the Inn. It was super slow in the beginning but started getting better after the half way point. Miranda did a good job of setting the creepy secretive town - suspect everyone, mysterious hiking trails vibe. The payoff though was only ok. I wanted a way more unsettling and mysterious story,  but it was a fine way to pass the time while flying.

Abby manages The Passage Inn, a quaint hotel in the small, North Carolina mountain town of Cutter's Pass. Cutter's Pass is located right off of the Appalachian Trail, making it a popular spot for those who enjoy all things outdoorsy. However, this is not what Cutter's Pass is know for. Over the span of 25 years, 7 people have gone missing from Cutter's Pass. With its mysterious history, tourists include not only those looking for an outdoor adventure but the true crime fanatics who think they can solve the mysterious disappearances. When the brother of the last missing person checks into The Passage Inn relentlessly looking for answers, Abby is caught in the middle and begins questioning everything she thought she knew about the town she calls home.

I really enjoyed this story because I love hiking and camping, so this setting is ideal for a perfect thriller! I wouldn't call this book a thriller as much as a mystery/whodunnit though. I also grew up in a small town in the south, so I could also relate to the tight-knit community aspect of this story. I didn't hate the ending of this story, but I also didn't love it. Overall this was a quick and enjoyable read, and I think it is a great read for anyone who loves the outdoors and mysteries!

Enjoyable mystery book that isn't too scary. I liked the writing a lot - the introduction of characters is well-paced. It's not the best thriller I've read but I read this in about three sittings so it was still well-written to be a good book.
