This must be the worst book I have read for some time and I read quite a lot of books.
This was an erotica/mystery and both parts were equally terrible.
Howard's deeply misogynistic views shone through with how she demonised Candra for having multiple sexual partners and for the 'crime' of having an abortion. Richard's behaviour towards Sweeney was also consistently predatory and showed no respect for her boundaries and at some points was really sexual assault and this was portrayed as sexy and romantic.
The actual sex scenes were vile and made me feel truly the opposite of aroused.
The mystery of Sweeney being able to see ghosts and paint the future etc. is never explained apart from some naff comment about horoscopes at the end. Sweeney appears to have been severely abused in her childhood with her commenting off-hand at one point about her mother and mother's boyfriend trying to have sex with her when she was a teenager and having sex in front of her when she was a young child but this is just brushed past and not given any gravity?
The murder mystery revelation doesn't really make any sense and Margo McMillian just does not have enough motivation to kill Candra and then try to kill Sweeney.
Richard proposing at the end after they have been together literally one week also gives me the ick.
For the love of God don't read this book!
