3.5 stars. Figured out the twist early on but still enjoyed it overall.

Despite using a more interesting mechanism for plot development than most books of this vain, most of this book seems to be jibberish that's then tied up in a clipped ending. I actually think this book would have benefited from more red herrings.

I called almost every “twist” in the book from VERY early on. However, I still enjoyed the ride. It was well written and worth the read if you’re looking for a thriller, but very unbelievable at times

WOW, I could not put this one down!! Embarrassed to say this is my first book by Mary Kubica and all I can say is, where the hell have I been!? What a twist- an ending I never saw coming!!

Dr. Sadie Foust is dealing with adjusting to small-town life on a remote island off the coast of Maine. Having moved here with her husband and two sons after the suicide of her sister-in-law, Sadie and her husband, Will, find themselves guardians of their niece Imogen and trying to build a new life together after some rocky dealings in their marriage. Shortly after arriving on the small island a neighbor is murdered, sending Sadie on her own personal hunt for the killer. Left on edge, feeling unsafe in a new, unfamiliar, tight-knit community, Sadie will have to be careful just how much she reveals as she gets closer to figuring out who the killer really is.

HIGHLY, highly recommended!!

1.5 stars. I PREDICTED 99% OF THIS BOOK LESS THAN 20% INTO IT. literally almost every aspect except one thing, and now i’m kinda mad that i even wasted my time finishing it. but also kinda proud of myself for predicting almost every single detail? like when i say every detail, i mean every detail, i had it all worked out. also the main character was kinda annoying
