I liked this one but struggled to really connect with it Maggie and Beau as i had the others because we didnt know much about them before this book. Maggie was really aloof and even though she was cute, i wasnt able to really relate/connect in the best way. i did love that she was the domme though which we dont have enough of, at least in my recent reading. Beau was sweet enough and i loved how being a sub helped him get over his issues but overall, there was just no connection since I disliked him from how he treated Charlie in book one.

Gah! The Salacious Players Club. I have come to love this world so much.
I was so excited for Mercy. When I found it was Maggie & Beau… (insert a million heart eyes)
Maggie was quite elusive in the previous books, and we never got a handle on who she really was, so it was about time for her book!
Maggie and Beau were exceptional. Two people feeling lost in their life, trying to find safe ground to land. Both fighting to be understood. I felt their connection almost immediately. There was an intense curiosity that Maggie was trying to fight. I loved the forbidden component of Beau being Emerson’s son. Witnessing Maggie really step into her own, after growing up in such a repressive household was so liberating to read. Beau had his own path to carve. Dealing with unresolved feelings toward his father, a toxic mother, he was consistently not feeling worthy or good enough. HIs redemption arc was incredible. The amends he made were gold tier. I was obsessed with them realizing they were each other's person.
The spice in this was TOP.NOTCH. *Cough Chapter 33. Nothing beats a powerful fem domme and her submissive brat!
Sara Cate has become one of my go-to authors and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
Special thanks to the author for this ARC

2⭐️ A semi-disappointing read… I really like this series but I knew this one was going to be a bad apple.
-Beau was such a tool in the previous books and I wasn’t looking forward to this book! He’s definitely juvenile with his sullen teenager attitude, mumblings, and desperate outbursts. I saw how this translated to a brat situation with him, which I did appreciate, but he needed some really hard core turn arounds that I didn’t see. Sure he made some efforts but nothing really serious.
-Also, Maggie went hard on him when delving into the dom/sub bit. I felt like she dove in instead of easing him into the sub role imo. Maybe that was suppose to be her lack of experience coming through, but pushing him to see if he’d quit on day 1 felt off.
-This didn’t feel like romance. There was definitely lust and chemistry, but they were falling in love? How? They never dated or even really delved into learning about each other! It was just sex with a deep connection and sparse communication about anything outside of bdsm.
**Warning: assault**
Worth the read?: YES
Reread?: NO
Read if you like:
-age gap (12 yrs)
-domme/sub/brat
-bdsm
-slow burn
-unlikely couple
