I really enjoyed reading this book, the chemistry of the characters and even the build up of their relationship; I loved how you got the insight into the main leads backgrounds and how that interlinks with their decisions.

However, this book did take me a really long time to finish. I feel like it didn't have to be that thick of a book, I had to take several breaks.

Powerless is the third book in Elsie Silver's Chestnut Springs series, following a friends-to-lovers storyline between Jasper and Sloane. The first half of the book is relatively slow-paced, and while Silver’s writing is familiar, it can feel a bit formulaic, which may come across as repetitive.

I found it challenging to connect with Jasper and Sloane as much as with the main characters from the previous books; they sometimes felt a bit one-dimensional. However, I did appreciate Sloane’s character growth, as well as the subplot involving her mother finally standing up for herself.

Despite its flaws, the book remained entertaining, delivering the kind of spicy romance that’s sometimes just what you need. I plan to continue with the series, eager to read about Winter's story next.

jasper and sloane will have my heart forever, the way they fit so perfectly and are so relatable it almost hurts, the vulnerability is so rare and pure it’s beautiful

I dunno this really wasn't for me. I eat up a childhood friends to lovers but this just really didn't do it for me. It borderlined some weird stuff due to their ages, and it just made me feel icky. Idk how

I want a bit more yearning, especially with Jasper discovering new feelings (even thought they're not really new and he was 24 and being attracted to an 18 year old,,,?)
but once the physical intimacy started I was so disappointed.

beau randomly disappearing was weird as hell

if i have to hear Willa say "You should bang him" again, i'll have to commit a war crime
