I really enjoyed Boyfriend Material and thought I'd try another book by Alexis Hall. I don't know if it was the narrator but I could not get into this book. Many references throughout, I liked the Combichrist mention.

It's a dumb fun quick read I can't say I'd recommend it but I don't regret reading it

I enjoyed reading this book overall, but it was because I was in the mood for it. The writing was difficult to get through at first because it was pretty cheesy, but after a while it either normalized a bit or I got used to it. It was something to chuckle at- not to be taken too seriously. And that's how I felt about the book as a whole. I thought it was interesting, it gave me a few laughs, but it's not exactly gripping. A nice, fun read to be sure.

Well, that was fun. (And kind of gross.)

I have some quibbles with the huge amount of back story that kept popping up, enough that I kept checking to be sure this really was the first in the series. But the world and the wide variety of swearing, fighting, quipping characters were fun and compelling. I wouldn't argue that this is impressive literature, but it was funny and interesting.

Scrumptious. It took me a while to while to settle in to this series - I was reading them more as romance and less as mysteries. But as I kept reading I enjoyed them more and more - I do like a good fantastical mystery. The writing is luscious, as always, and I liked the characters and the world. Hoping for a third.

The biggest mystery in the book is what exactly this line means:

“The skin was puckered up like when you stick your tongue into an orange.”

I’ve finished the book, but remain baffled

Not at all a reflection on the book, but its familiarity in ways. Very fun read, very, and clear homage to another Kate paranormal series.
