ok so when i first started chainsaw man i loved it and not just this bleak black and white 1 dimensional love but add in some ms word 3-d effects "love". i loved how everyone kept dying all the time. at times i found it hilarious and sometimes i was genuinely shocked but then i realised that was sort of it. characters get introduced, then killed, protagonist somehow survives, and lives to see another glorious day of his friends and colleagues being cut to pieces. fun stuff.
coming from someone who shamelessly loves classic shounen tried and tested recipe, chainsaw man needed to do more than just cool fights.

SPOILER ALERT

also fuck this series for killing makima (arguably one of the best antagonists in shounen) on a technicality.

i might still read part 2 but like maybe not in a hurry

devastated. i have no words. this volume took me through the full range of human emotions. i had to stop and cry before i was even halfway through. but oh my god??? that ending????? my heart is so full. that was the happiest ending this story could have possibly had. i love how, after all that pain, theres so much hope. im so proud of denji. the series could easily have ended here, and it would have been absolutely perfect.

very curious to see where arc 2 takes us, and if it can possibly stand up to what i just experienced.
