I truly loved the experience of reading this book, and I grew so incredibly fond of the characters over the course of the story, and while I am so glad I decided to start this book, finishing it was honestly bittersweet because I now have to move on from this beautiful tale of love, at least for now.

Absolutely judge this book by its cover!!! It’s just as freaking beautiful and soft and lovely as the cover suggests!! Just soo addicting that I couldn’t put it down and had to binge read it. The mystery is really just a plot device to character explorations! And the characters a phenomenal and will worm their way into your head and stick with you!!

(3.5) The romance was kind of quiet in a very good way. In a way, I can understand the parallel with The Goblin Emperor. Both novels are very character driven with quiet atmospheres. However, the quality of the world building and the politic machinations is not comparable. I wish the author had put more care into the world building. Honestly, the world building is pretty inexistant, which also makes it difficult to get into the story at first. The politic plots were overly simplistic and served mainly to advance the romance. I quite liked the romance but not so much the rest.

I was in pain the last 2 chapter because of the anguished pining but omg it was so sweet. Kadou and Evemer are so sweet and deserve the most beautiful life together.
This book is so great if you just skip the sometimes overwhelming amount of details that goes into the world-building.

I was captivated and only when I put it down, my mind started working and I noticed several flaws. But while listening, I could not care less.
The narration was performed good but with a lack of voices. It did not lessen my enjoyment.

Only two things bothered me. First, the story started with a main character suffering from an anxiety disorder. It was marvelous, but was dropped suddenly at 25%. Second, the audiotrack was very often corrected with a newly recorded sentence, but I could hear it was a different track.
