wow, this is probably the worst thing i've ever read. i wanted to like this so bad but 25 pages in and i knew i was in for a rough ride. horribly written and problematic as fuck. from antiblackness, to colorism, to fatphobia, to homophobia and probably something else im missing. whew, and not to mention the shitty ending and the lack of real chemistry between any of the romances. like why do they like each other? what do they like about each other?

and jesus be an EDITOR, my GOD. did ANYONE read over this before they sent it to print?? 🤦🏾‍♀️

the saving grace of this book could've been denise and lena's relationship but it was really dissatisfying how their storyline went. they were the main reason i stuck it out bc SURELY they would have gotten together at the end but nooooo. a complete waste of my time.

and carmen's dumb ass going back to her ex who obviously never loved her. like, girl. and the terrible writing didnt help either cuz i was like WHERE is this amazing first love you had?? im not seeing no type of anything to show what was so great about tameka and why she kept going back. she just did and i guess the author thought that was supposed to be enough smh.

I just couldn't relate to the characters enough. Also fatphobia is very prevalent in this book.

I loveeddd this book. It was so interesting to see Lena trying to figure who she wanted more Dee or her star basketball boyfriend (who I didn't care for by the way). I loved how close knit the ladies in this book were. Even when they messed up or let each other down they definitely illustrated what it's like to create a family outside of blood relatives. I definitely enjoyed it and I can't wait for the next book. I actually requested that my library purchase it for the collection.
