1.Hate her mother(such a fake mother-doesnt deserve to be called a mother) and Daniel(such a fake lover).
3.The cop showing up once a good person then just another fake person.Glad he died.
2.She still should've go to U.S Goverment and tell her story even though she'd end up in jail. You can't hide from your reality and responsibility .You just can't hide forever!

An amazing adventure! I feel so good to be a part of it.I got to know about that weird and wonderful at the same time-island.I had a really good trip in that place so i did feel terrible during Maya's complicated part of life.

I liked it, but even though it's a big one, it felt very superficial, if that makes sense. While I think the real take away of the book is the character's introspection, self-discovery, and thoughts, the crime plot felt very pretend-y, with not a lot of foundation to it. I'm not sure if that's just my own fault, if maybe it's the translation (I still haven't read Allende in Spanish) or just how the book is meant to be read. Either way, I enjoyed it, and I will continue to read more from this author (House of Spirits is still one of my favourites).

I connected with Maya's introspection. Apart from the superficial plot of drugs, teen angst, abandonment, loneliness, etc. the lessons of love, self discovery and growth are what kept me interested.

Side note: is it just me or was the narrator a bit annoying? I hated how she mispronounced certain words. She should have done some research.

Haven't read an Isabel Allende book for many years. This was easy to read, entertaining and made me want to re-read her previous novels.
