The author is hilarious. His rhythm of dialogue and narration with the characters he builds is so great. Even the deaths are funny.
However, this book is far far far too outdated to even be palatable for modern sensitivities. Just read The World According to Garp instead. It’s all the best parts of this book with none of the rape, fatphobia, racism, ableism, homophobia, etc.
I got about halfway through before i had to put this down. Would not recommend
