A fun light easy fantasy that was very quick to get through. Thoroughly enjoyed this fantasy world, it felt like I was on the other side of the cruel price series. I will be picking up the sequel 🥰

When I first started this book, I found myself initially put off by the leisurely pace of the plot. However, as I continued the story and got a better idea of what to expect, I found that I really enjoyed the second half.

One of the most captivating aspects of this novel was its cast of characters, each one having an important place in the story, from the townspeople to the faeries. They were quirky and flawed and the author’s descriptions did a brilliant job in helping the reader to picture the characters and their intertwined lives. I loved Emily and Wendell as main characters. The infusion of faerie lore added a unique layer to the narrative and I enjoyed the added footnotes.

In the end, Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries proved to be a unique and fun fantasy story, transforming a slow start into a page-turning journey that left me excited for the next book.

Soft 3.5/5 stars for now

I found myself absolutely loving the first half of the book, I tore through that portion in one sitting. After that, the pacing and story seemed super disjointed. Still an overall fun read with a cozy fall/winter feel.
