The book “Agua, Aguita/ Water, Little Water is written by Jorge Tetl Argueta and illustrated by Felipe Ugalde Alcantara. The author uses bilingualism by equally representing the Spanish language and the English language. I would give this story a 4 star rating. The book features poems about water, coupled with abstract and concrete illustrations. The story’s only “character” is the water, which the author personifies. The book has a variety of poems representing the life cycle of water, as well as features it possesses. I would categorize this book into the genre of poetry. Throughout the pages, you can see the Spanish text is presented first at the top, and the English text is found at the bottom of the page. There is a page in the back that includes a Nahuat version of the story as well. In the back there is an extensive author and illustrator note that is translated in both English and Spanish. The book is translated by the highly qualified Gabriela Baesa Ventura, she has multiple degrees including: a BA in Spanish literature with a minor is translation, MA in Hispanic literature, as well as a Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature. Both the author and illustrator of this book seem to have an abundance of valid experience and a passion for what they do. The author Jorge Tetl Argueta is the founder of La Biblioteca de los Suenos/Library of dreams in El Salvador. Both Argueta and Alcantara have won various awards for their work.
