I have not read that many historical romances, but I liked this one. I enjoyed the main characters and especially Luz Alana. I also liked the relationship that developed throughout the book. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Great writing and interesting story but I realized I don’t like historical romance, haha.

Wow.  This was my first read by this author, and it surely won't be my last.  It was such a rich, emotional read that kept me wanting more.  The characters were authentic, diverse, strong and you can tell the type of research that went on prior to the author writing the story.  And just the history and diversity itself is so needed.  I dived right in and did not, could not stop right up until the very end.  And the growth of both main characters was such a emotional time.  I am so excited for this series, and I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This was a nice vacation read. It had more depth than I expected, with the diverse cast discussing topics like race, gender, colonialism, slavery, and racism within their historical context. That said, it was still a funny, steamy, romantic read with very likable protagonists and a decent (if not jaw-droppingly fantastic) storyline.

Luz Alana and Evan had great chemistry, witty banter, and a smidge of insta-love going for them, but it worked pretty convincingly in my opinion. I liked them together, and while they were occasionally frustrating, I could live with it since the misunderstanding/miscommunications/assumptions were resolved relatively quickly when they happened.

Also, shout-out to the gorgeous cover! I love it.

Overall, this was a fun, engaging read with an easy-to-root for pair of protagonists and wonderfully diverse characters (race, sexuality, etc.) that made it something to love. I'll definitely check out the books about the other Leonas!

Hold your whiskey ladies and hand me the rum! Adriana Herrera brings the spice of the Caribbean to Europe in her new historical romance. *A Caribbean Heiress In Paris*, follows Luz Alana, a biracial business woman from the islands, into the bustling streets of Europe as she tries to make a place for herself and her family’s rum business. Unsurprisingly she is faced with challenges of being a female of color in the business world. With no one wanting to do business with her, she has reached her wit’s end, luckily (or unluckily) fate hands her drink of fine scotch by the name of James Evanston Sinclair—the Earl of Darnik and the scotch distiller who can’t seem to get her out of his head.

Y’all I was enamored with this marriage of convenience story. Having only read Herrera’s sapphic Santa novella, Her Night With Santa, I went in thinking this would be something quick and dirty. But I was given so much more. Herrera’s writing in this story was so well done and the research alone that she must have done has me wanting to give her a standing ovation! The Characters were fun, interesting and compelling as the story progressed, and I absolutely adored reading such strong female characters. Luz Alana and her family are the kind of people I would want around me when I’m marrying a hunk of burning love such as Evan.

The only thing I took issue with was just how rushed and quickly wrapped up the ending was. I felt like it was so rushed that it fell anticlimactic and I wasn’t fully able to bask in the development of not only our main couple but also the development of the story overall. Other than that this story was fun, entertaining, and entirely delightful. I’m super stoked to read what happens next! Bring me more Las Leonas por favor!
