This was another slog of an installment from this series. I think three important things happen? The gender politics, while interesting world building in book one, has been pushed to it's most stereotypical and patronizing.
SpoilerMat gets straight up assaulted at knifepoint, but it's not played that way since it was done by a woman and he's a playboy, despite an obviously imbalanced power dynamic

Once again Jordan's worldbuilding and character development are fantastic. I heard this was the start of "the slog" but I actually thought the pacing and the pieces of the puzzle that came together in this book really kept me invested. Pretty much the last 200 or 300 pages of the book were absolutely phenomenal.
