Lovely. I like the politics and the universe - might need to deep-dive on this one.

I really enjoyed this short story! I recently read Child of a Hidden Sea for review and really wanted a prequel story. I was then informed that this was on tor.com so I read it! It was awesome reading about the first time Gale and Parrish met!

This novella leaves me feeling unsatisfied.

I felt parts were somewhat confusing as to the world, though I got the overal idea. And I find it interesting. But this world clearly needs more than 29 pages to be properly set-up. The characters in this however drew me in. The main character, a forty year old woman, was quite a character. And I liked it. But I loved her companion, Parish. I could definetely read more with these characters.
