So many of these books found their way onto the BBC big read list, I think this maybe my last one to tick off. As always it deals with tricky situations that children may have to deal with, in this case bullying and a friend that’s shoplifting. It’s done in a sensitive way that is easy for children to understand.

I had to give this another read since it's been 20 years since I first read the book.
It tackles bullying quite well, although I wish there was more highlighting all the issues rather than occasionally dipping a toe in.
I also would've liked more about foster children and Tanya's background.

Wasn't a fan of this one. Not really sure what age-group you're supposed to give this book to, as the main character was 10... but featured were "willies", "sex" and "suicide". Not too appropriate? Could just be my opinion!
