A great follow up to the first in the series, but unlike Wildwood (#1)-- which despite some unanswered questions had a sense of closure at the finish -- this one leaves you hanging.

This is the sequel to Wildwood. Prue Mckeel's life has gone back to ordinary. Her new science teacher is always on her case about grades and daydreaming in class. One day she is visited by her friend Curtis and others. They tell her that she is not safe in the Outside and she must come to Wildwood. Meanwhile, a machine parts factory owner is using orphans to do work, but nobody knows what he does to the children who are badly behaved. Prue and her friend Curtis get caught up in the conflicts of the Wood, and they must go Under Wildwood to solve it. I liked this book just as much as the first one. I really recommend them.

A perfectly lovely second book to this imaginative trilogy.

This was a great sequel that did not deny readers of the magic intertwined with the everyday that sits right alongside the quirky and weird. You have a sense that everything is about to fall apart, but then something pulls it back together. There are surprises at every turn and leaves you at a crucial turning point for every character that means Wildwood Imperium (the next book) will be in your hands within the hour.

The first two parts of this book were really good. Colin Meloy has such a great way of putting together a plot and is amazing at writing lovable, relatable characters. Carson Ellis' illustrations were beautiful per usual. These parts were whimsical and so much fun to read. I couldn't wait to continue. Part 3 definitely brought what could've been a five star book to a four star book. It was hard to follow. Parts of it felt unnecessary. Overall, I gave this book four stars. It was a classic second book, but I can't wait to see where this leads me in Wildwood Imperium!
