The writing is really eloquent. I liked the characters- wish we got a female perspective, didn’t appreciate only male POVs. The ending was also unrealistic for a story set in India

Just fantastic. Un-put-downable. Great characters and engaging plot line - highly recommend!

i had a hard time getting into this - and a really tough time with the names despite the list at the front of the book - but it was very good and definitely worth it.

I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. The novel really soaks you in the atmosphere of India in the 1900's, but it's not until part 3 that I really felt interested in the characters.

****SPOILERS****

Not sure how I feel about it. I liked the story and her writing. I totally fell in love with Sleeping on Jupiter. I think my main disappointment comes from me being aroace and not giving such importance to a single romantic physical relationship. To me his obsession with Bakul after they met again and his loosing everything to then end up with her again just doesn't make sense. I liked all characters in the novel, so I won't rate it.

Some plot twists that would have made Dickens blush, but they were genuinely shocking as I read.

A survey of relationships challenge by socioeconomic realities set against the backdrop of early 20th century India / Bangladesh.

This book started out very promising but bogged down in the middle. It was mimicking "Great Expectations" a bit too much, if that book were set in India. It had other stories surrounding this story but it just made me lose interest midway through the book. I slogged on to the end and was unimpressed by the ending. Not a bad book but just not one I really enjoyed.

This would have made a good short story without the first three quarters of the book. It took me an age to get through it.
