Not quite as endearing to me as FLY BY NIGHT, but still an admirably wonderful book.

The first volume was good, this is better. As others noted, there's no need to file this as a children's book.

Bugs me slightly that Clent is just W.C. Fields from his many swindler movies, but I *like* Fields so it's OK.

The goose is delightful, but Hardinge is too often forced to account for it and it becomes unwieldy.

Predict the plot? Good luck. If anything, the unpredictability is a tad overdone.
Well, sure, the overall fate of Toll is predictable, but how we get there isn't.

Also liked the way Mosca grows through the story, and starts to think instead of just charging in.

I hope we see Laylow again.

Finally, is Goshawk bad, or is he more like Pratchett's Lord Vetinari, doing what needs doing and thinking six moves ahead?

I'll read the next book to find out.

Nothing much happened in the pages that I read, hard to focus on.

(Called Fly Trap over here). As fabulous as Fly by Night: inventive and intricate plot, wholly developed and developing characters and rich, complex and snortingly funny language. I love Mosca, Eponymous and the webfooted apocalypse Saracen like I love Harry, Ron and Hermione. Do we have to wait 6 years for the next one?

An amazing sequel! This book had more double crosses, twists, turns, plot twists than a maze and I loved every second of it! Mosca was absolutely brilliant and Saracen lived up to his "hell fowl" nickname.
I am a little disappointed there isn't a third book, possibly one focusing on Mosca as an adult? But there is still time to hope that will happen!
