This book took a minute for me to get into. But the twists and turns made me keep going. This is about an Inspector who is haunted by an old case that was never solved. A family was murdered and only one victim was left alive, the daughter. He is reminded of the case years later and has to set off to find the daughter before the murderers do.

This an explosive tale of a race against time. A race to find the past.

I enjoyed the character development and the setting of this book. Everything was fleshed out so well and it kept me interested in the story.

My first book by this author, so there was some background in Grens' personal life that I didn't quite get but honestly, who cared? The story was a little convoluted and too contrived to fully work for me, in that the two threads tying together was implausible. Having said that, I guessed the story of the little girl about halfway through the book and nearly guessed the Big Bad behind it all so readers just need to figure out what's the "fluff" and what is important.
