I wish this book had been around for me to read 30 years ago. The references to the resource literature is a little annoying in audio form, but probably fine if read from the page.

This book is not a cohesive set of research or coping skills, but rather an overview of research that existed at the time of publication (2007ish). The author has also conducted a bunch of surveys of women and girls on the autism spectrum and included their anecdotes.
I think this was helpful in understanding the ways that ASD shows up for women and girls differently than the common diagnostic criteria which is centered around men and male behaviors.
Not every part of the book resonated with my experience, but the parts that did were very illuminating and validating.
I think this book is a great read for folks who are trying to understand their own experiences and a gateway to potential future self/diagnosis.

Interesting topic however, I'm missing the definition of autism and asperger syndrome as well as information about the test subjects, including their cultural background.
The author loses herself in the vastity of the topic and forgets to prioritise.
Each chapter is full of contradictions about behaviour patterns and the there is no explanation about what is considered part of autism and what is just an individual characteristic.
The conclusion is pretty inconclusive.

This note is more for me: I READ THE DIGITAL VERSION. I plan on buying the actual book in the future.
