I have a hard time rating novellas because they’re not as fleshed out as a novel. This one almost felt like a movie with the different different characters though.

Reads like a novella/short romance. Fast paced but not a lot of depth because of how short it is. Unique that it was an audio only book- I liked the shifts made due to it being that way (sound effects, full cast, removal of “he said/she said”). Cute but not something that will stick with me.

Rating: 5/5 stars

Set two years after The Unhoneymooners, this sequel focuses on Olive’s twin sister, Ami.

I LOVED this! The Unhoneymooners is one of my fave rom-coms, and this had all the great Hawaii vibes and warm humor, packaged in a quick and delightful audio format. The audio production was incredibly good (maybe the best I’ve ever heard)—Harry Shum Jr. and Jessica Marie Garcia was AMAZING narrators and all the little extra touches (like ocean/bird sounds and music) were such a fun immersive addition.

The story itself was really lovely—I adored Brody as a book boyfriend/MMC and was so happy for Ami. Keep in mind that this is a novella, so the relationship does progress quickly—this means there are a few insta-love vibes and everything wraps up pretty fast. If this was a full-length novel those might be downsides, but in my opinion you shouldn’t criticize something for fulfilling exactly what you’d expect from the medium, and this is a novella that functions like one.

If you enjoyed The Unhoneymooners, listen to this one as soon as you can!

Recommended to anyone, but especially if you like: The Unhoneymooners; full-cast audio productions; vacation romances

CW: Mentions of infidelity; minor discussions of death/medical trauma
