The “twist” at the end was neither suspenseful or moving. It really tainted my experience of the book with the emotionless ending.

Okay. So we have the Secret History but instead of the Classics, we have a bunch of theater kids who can quote Shakespeare better than any twenty-one year old would ever be able to. I thought the plot and the writing were good, but if you took out all of the quoted Shakespeare half the book would be missing.

Wasted my time with this book. I had to slog through the endless sexism and slutshaming only for none of them to have any semblance of character depth and development and for the plot twist and ending to be so underwhelming.

My absolute favorite book. Immediately cared about the main characters and needed to follow their story.

I have heard a lot of talk about this book, and I have finally gotten around to reading it. It is my first murder mystery and what a great first at that. (Minor theme spoiler) I just would have never guessed that the story was saturated with romance rather than blood lust. But I suppose murder is as near to lust as flame to smoke. Great read, and kept you uncertain not only of the mystery but of the intention of every character, yet you couldn’t help but love and hate them all. Eh, what’s the difference? Everything should be fine as long as no one says Macbeth right, guys? Right..?
